About

Kristopher Cahoon – Founder

Early in his education at the University of Oregon School of Law, Kris recognized the need for a broader skillset to more effectively address the conflicts that regularly impact the people and places he cares deeply about. This realization led him to complete the school’s joint J.D. and M.S. in Conflict and Dispute Resolution program, where he worked extensively with leaders in mediation, facilitation, and public participation in policy design and government decision-making.

Before founding Emergence Mediation, LLC, in Missoula, Montana, Kris gained more than twelve years of conflict management experience within the U.S. federal regulatory environment. During his federal service, he facilitated the early resolution of multiple complex, pre-decisional land-management disputes, played a central role in negotiating various nationwide labor contracts within the U.S. Forest Service, and mediated or facilitated the resolution of hundreds of employer-employee disputes.

Through Emergence Mediation, LLC, Kris now brings his extensive expertise and deep knowledge of conflict management and dispute resolution to serve a diverse clientele across multiple sectors.
