AI: Responsible Realism

As a follow-up to the previous post on AI in mediation, I appreciated this article from John Lande on Mediate.com that discusses the “responsible realism” view when it comes to the use of AI in a variety of conflict management professions. John cited a handful of helpful articles from legal scholars adopting the responsible realism posture and I encourage readers to explore those. I certainly fall in with the camp of “responsible realists” when it comes to AI and its risks and rewards for all of the professions under the conflict management umbrella. And I wholeheartedly agree with John’s conclusion that it “will require reflection, experimentation, and humility” as lawyers, neutrals, and institutions meet the challenges presented by the rapidly evolving AI environment in years to come.
